Response
The Scottish Police Authority has considered your request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA) and we can confirm that relevant information is held.
In response to part one of your request - there is one member of staff currently working for the Authority, which includes SPA Corporate and SPA Forensic Services, who has permission to work outside of Scotland.
In addition to the information recorded above, and as part of our duty to assist, procedures are in place that enable and allow staff working across the Authority’s corporate team and Forensic Services to work remotely within the UK while utilising the secure police network. Staff also regularly attend conferences, events and training outside of Scotland, or contribute to the wider criminal justice sector in other jurisdictions while fulfilling their role and responsibilities. There is no central record held of this activity.
In relation to part two of your request – the member of staff referred to above is within the Forensic Services’ Reporting capability working from an address in the North of England. Most of the work undertaken by this individual takes place from locations across Scotland, however, where workload allows, hybrid working from a home address is authorised. Hybrid working arrangements can be worked by a number of roles across Forensic Services.
