Background
Our 2030 vision for Police Scotland is of an organisation focused on safer communities, less crime, supported victims and a thriving workforce. Ensuring we sustain ongoing, meaningful two-way dialogue with our people is critical to the successful delivery of our 2030 vision.
Our refreshed workforce survey was commissioned last spring and launched in July 2024 to ensure that our people are heard and are an integral part of how we continue to shape genuine change across the Service. The Chief Constable has committed to deliver this survey annually, to measure improvement and sustain meaningful dialogue with our people.
A key learning point from the first year of our enhanced survey approach in 2024 is on monitoring activities with alignment to key areas of focus developed from survey findings, supported by regular and meaningful reporting and updating on progress.
This identified learning point has been reviewed, and we are working to enhance the approach so that we have greater understanding and are able to report on national and local activity – and how this relates directly to survey findings – in response to our 2025 survey. The findings of this survey will be brought to People Committee in February 2026 for discussion. We will include an overview of our approach for tracking activity and progress within this paper.
This paper gives an overview of some national and local activity which responds to the feedback from last year’s survey findings.
Below is a summary of local activity which took place between February 2025 to the present. Activity below is summarised based on priority areas identified through analysis of the 2024-25 Your Voice Matters Workforce Survey. This is intended to provide members with a high-level view of activity that has been highlighted to the Research and Insight team as an example of progress.
