BACKGROUND TO THE SCOTTISH CRIME AND JUSTICE SURVEY
The Scottish Crime and Justice Survey (SCJS) is a survey of adults aged 16 and above living in private residential households in Scotland, asking about their experiences and perceptions of crime and their views on the justice system.
Between 2008-09 and 2021-22, the headline crime measure of the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey (SCJS) was a product of two distinct groups being combined – property and violent crime. For the first time, headline SCJS crime now also includes fraud and computer misuse.
