Alignment to risk register and risk appetite
FS Strategic Risk 09 – There is a risk that Forensic Services do not support R&D to develop and enhance forensic services caused by focusing on maintaining service in the short term and lack of funding.
We need a sharp, strategic focus on research and innovation if we are to continue to deliver high-quality ethical forensic science that allows Forensic Services to meet the changing needs of our communities and ensure we are sustainable, adaptable and resilient to the challenges presented by the constantly shifting landscape and increasingly digital world.
Improved capacity for smarter and faster ways of working will only be possible when support and investment in RDI allows new questions to be explored, established theories to be challenged and innovative techniques are developed.
