Request

Your request for information dated 10 November 2025 is copied below.

The Police Service of Scotland Regulations 2013 (including Annex 19 — Regulation 27) set out relocation/removal expenses for police officers.

The SPA has published a “Chief Officer Relocation Procedure” and has reportedly paid relocation and Land Building Transaction Tax (LBTT) Additional Dwelling Supplement (ADS) expenses to a chief officer where a former home was retained or where a second home was claimed.

I require documentary evidence showing the legal and procedural basis SPA used to introduce, approve and pay those allowances for chief officers, and confirmation that any changes were approved through the appropriate bodies – The Police Negotiating Board Scotland and or Scottish Government and any other relevant bodies.
