Response
The Scottish Police Authority has considered your request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA).
Part one of your request: Please confirm the date on which the SPA first received a copy of the report ‘Deep dive into Sex Equality and Tackling Misogyny and Violence Against Women and Girls’ by the Police Scotland Independent Review Group.
The Authority received a full copy of the Deep Dive into Sex Equality and Tackling Misogyny and Violence Against Women and Girls on 25 August 2025. This was subject to discussion at a meeting of the Authority’s Policing Together Oversight Group on 29 August 2025.
Part two of your request: Please provide copies of all correspondence, notes, messages, or other information in relation to the report. This should include all correspondence etc. in relation to its possible publication and whether the report should be tabled for discussion in public.
The final report of the Independent Review Group was published on 22 August 2024 on Police Scotland’s website. This report refers to and provides an overview of a Deep Dive into Sex Equality and Tackling Misogyny and Violence Against Women and Girls.
The Independent Review Group’s Final Report was subject to discussion at a meeting of the Authority’s Policing Together Oversight Group on 6 August 2024. In addition, Police Scotland provided a response to the IRG report which was considered at the same meeting. Police Scotland’s response included a reference to the Deep dive report. This is attached separately to the email response named “AGENDA – Policing Together Oversight Group Agenda – 29 Aug 2025”.
A summary of the Oversight Group’s discussion was reported to an Authority meeting held on 22 August 2024. The agenda, papers and a recording of the Authority’s meeting held on 22 August 2024 are available on the Authority’s website.
Further relevant information is also provided at Appendix 1. Some information has been redacted as this is considered third party data which is exempt in terms of FOISA.
