YEAR 2 PEOPLE STRATEGY / STRATEGIC WORKFORCE PLANNING (SWP) IMPLEMENTATION PLANS
Members considered the report which sought to describe Police Scotland priorities and deliverables for year two of the People Strategy and Strategic Workforce Plan, aligned to the Police Scotland’s 2030 Vision 3-year business plan. The report sought to describe refreshed arrangements for reporting and give details of the benefits the above arrangements will bring. In addition to the submitted report the following was discussed.
• Members considered an overview of the report. It was explained that the Director of People & Development is the owner of Strategic Workforce Planning but this sits alongside significant support from many other areas of the organisation. Members welcomed confirmation that it is understood across leaders of the organisation that delivery of this work must come from all of the organisation and it was not just something P&D will deliver. The Committee heard that strong alignment is in place across the organisation.
• The Chair of the Policing Together Oversight Group sought and received assurance from ACC Paton that close partnership working between P&D and Policing together colleagues will continue to be a feature to ensure good alignment.
• The Committee welcomed the assurance that effort has been made to align workforce planning activity to the delivery of the 2030 Vision and Members are supportive of a Deep Dive into people related areas that have been identified as relevant to this mapping work.
Members noted the report and agreed the following action.
PC-20250828- 007: Consideration to be given to opportunity for Members to be briefed on how workforce planning activity is being aligned to the delivery of the 2030 Vision.
