POLICE DRIVER TRAINING UPDATE
Members considered the report which sought to update the Committee on the status, ongoing development and future direction of Police Scotland’s driver training programme. In addition to the submitted report the following was discussed.
• Members welcomed confirmation that a Driver Training Strategic Oversight Group has been created to provide governance and strategic direction and to ensure training courses align with operational requirements and are legislatively compliant.
• Staff Associations attend meetings of this Oversight Group.
• It was agreed that future reports will include training completion data so that assurance can be provided on completion rates and legal compliance.
Members noted the report and agreed the following action.
PC-20250828-008: Future reporting to this committee to include data that provides oversight of levels of driver training completion.
