LEARNING TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP & TALENT - JOINT THEMATIC REPORT
Members considered the report which sought to outline progress made in relation to relevant strategic commitments and assess the impact in improving performance, mitigating strategic risks, and delivering recommendations from audits/inspections. In addition to the submitted report the following was discussed.
• Members considered an overview of the report and the impacts on the training function, from recent operational pressures was explained. Learning will be considered in future planning for large operational events and an assessment will be made on the extent to which training has to be rescheduled.
• A session is scheduled at which Police Scotland’s Leadership Team will explore how Police Scotland can reset its approach to employee performance management.
• Police Scotland is committed to understanding the lessons learned from MyCareer and using this to shape the way forward where relevant.
• Work is underway to develop a catalogue of available options for the workforce that enable development in roles and career.
• Members welcomed a commitment from Police Scotland to co-development with Staff Association and Trade Union views reflected in the work.
• The Committee is encouraged by the ongoing work and committee interest will be in the evaluation of Your Leadership Matters and how that is informing the work. Members look forward to future updates on the work to develop and improve the organisation’s approach to employee performance management.
