OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY
RPAS improve our ability to search large areas using less resources, decrease the risk faced by officers in difficult environments, provide an overview for crowd safety at events and aerial imagery for evidential use at court.
They are low cost, effective and highly visible asset that can support our existing helicopter capability.
As previously referenced, RPAS are deployed to a variety of policing operations and have been used to support other emergency services and police partners.
RPAS utilise technology which allows live images from the drone to be streamed to Police Scotland mobile devices and control rooms, and police partners.
