Public Polling

This page tells you about polling the Scottish Police Authority has commissioned.

Citizens and communities place significant value on their police service. A range of evidence shows this, both independent external sources, and evidence gathered internally.

In 2022, the Authority commissioned the Diffley Partnership to undertake a series of public polling activities on a regular six-monthly basis over the period 2022-24. This routine polling approach follows on from ad hoc polling activity undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There had also been thematic surveys on occasion, on the policing of the COP26 event, and on attitudes towards new and emerging technologies in policing.

The Authority is working with Police Scotland to better understand public confidence in policing in areas of the country that experience deprivation. A number of surveys have been conducted in various localities and the results of these can also be accessed in ‘Related Content’ below.
