Gaelic Language Plan

This page tells you about the Scottish Police Authority's support for the Gaelic language.

We are committed to playing our part to preserve and enhance the Scottish Gaelic language. As a public body the Authority is required by the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 to develop a Gaelic Language Plan setting out how we will do this.

The Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 established a body to promote the use and understanding of the Gaelic language: Bòrd na Gàidhlig The Act requires certain public bodies to prepare and implement plans that set out how they will use the Gaelic language in the exercise of their functions.

The Act gives an official framework for efforts to preserve and sustain the Gaelic language and culture. The Scottish Police Authority is committed to the ambitions and aims set out in the National Gaelic Language Plan (National Gaelic Language Plan) and the Authority will support this through the exercise of our function and delivery of our own Gaelic Language Plan for 2023-28.

Our plan and delivery updates are in 'Related Content' below.
