Strategy & Performance
The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) was established under the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012.
In overall terms, the Authority is responsible for maintaining policing, promoting the policing principles outlined in the 2012 Act, delivering continuous improvement of policing and holding the Chief Constable to account.
To allow it to fulfil these duties, the SPA has developed a Performance Framework which allows it to monitor and evaluate the performance of the police and whether the aims and benefits resulting from a single police force in Scotland are being realised.
Communication
At the Authority meeting on 30 June 2021, Police Scotland and the SPA agreed a joint Memorandum of Understanding on engagement and communication relating to new and emerging strategy, policy or practice in areas of significant public interest.
It was presented as part of the Chair's Report available to watch online: Authority Meeting - June 2021 on Livestream
