The effective policing of protest and events supports community cohesion and contributes directly to the Operation Evolve 2030 objectives of safer communities and less crime.
Through the fair, proportionate and effective policing of protest the human rights of those protesting are considered and balanced against the rights of communities and other affected parties.
The robust and structured management of protest ensures the duties of Police are carried out within established legal frameworks.
The effective assessment of risk and proportionate deployment of staff in response to all events ensures that costs to Police Scotland, including overtime, are managed effectively.
The proportionate deployment of trained and equipped officers combined with effective planning and engagement minimises the risk to officers.
