Your request for information dated 15 May 2026 is copied below.
I am writing to make a formal request for information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.Please provide the following information for the three most recent financial years for which complete data are held (2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25, or the latest equivalent three-year period):
- The total number of staff meals or meal provisions supplied across all Police Scotland premises and facilities (including police stations, headquarters, the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, and any other sites).
- The number and/or proportion of those meals that were supplied as halal (i.e. using halal-certified meat or prepared to halal dietary standards).
Please break this down by site type where possible (e.g. headquarters, training college, divisional headquarters, local stations, operational deployments).
- Details of staff catering facilities:
- The number and location of sites that have dedicated staff canteens, restaurants, cafés or significant catering facilities.
- A brief description of the type of facilities available (e.g. hot meal counter, vending only, kitchenette, etc.).
- Total expenditure on staff food provision and catering services (including canteen operations, operational catering, and any subsidies).
- Expenditure specifically on halal food, halal-certified meat, or halal meal provision.
If exact figures are not recorded separately, please provide the best available estimate and explain the basis.
- Any available data on the number of halal meal requests or uptake rates from police officers and staff.
- Copies of current policies, guidelines, procurement frameworks or contracts that relate to:
- Staff catering and canteen services
- Provision of religious or cultural dietary requirements (specifically halal)
- Any internal reports, assessments, equality impact assessments or reviews produced since 1 April 2022 that discuss staff catering, canteen facilities, or the provision of halal meals.
