Implications
Equalities & Human Rights -The Public Sector Equality Duty requires Police Scotland to have due regard to certain equality considerations and consider how our functions will affect people with difference protected characteristics. This includes how we recruit and promote officers and staff. We are also required, as per the Public Sector Equality Duty: Specific Duties in Scotland, to publish equality outcomes and report progress
report on mainstreaming the equality duty
assess and review the equality impact of policies and practices
gather, use and publish employee information
publish gender pay gap information
publish equal pay statements
consider award criteria and conditions in relation to public procurement
publish in a manner that is accessible
Data and Privacy - Whilst ensuring we adhere to reporting requirements of the equalities legislation, we must also comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ensure the privacy of individual members of the workforce.
Financial - Police Scotland must operate within the budget envelope agreed by the Scottish Government. Any proposed changes to the size and shape of the workforce must take cognisance of the impact these may have on pay budget, ensuring we remain within the overall budget at all times.
Workforce - The size and shape of Police Scotland’s workforce will impact on the individual members of our workforce, in terms of workload, capacity, and wellbeing. We must take cognisance of this when proposing any changes.
