Equality and Diversity
Today's Scotland is a diverse community made up of unique individuals who bring a wide range of skills, experiences and cultures to the environment in which we all live and work.
Legislation against discrimination has been very important in raising the profile of equality and diversity issues; it has helped to establish public awareness of eliminating prejudice and unfairness, given representation and voice to different disadvantaged groups and ultimately made a difference to people's behaviour and lives.
Here at the SPA we believe that it is important to create a productive environment where everyone feels valued, where talents are fully utilised and where prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, and harassment are not tolerated.
Our staff, partners and stakeholders need to be confident that we understand their needs in order for us to be effective and able to perform our duties and deliver services in a manner which is sensitive and appropriate without compromising our operational integrity.
The Authority is committed to eliminating discrimination on the basis of all of the protected characteristics as identified from the Equality Act 2010. These are: age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marital and civil partnerships, maternity and paternity, race, religion & belief and sexual orientation.
We are keen to provide a customer and client focused service to our partners and stakeholders which is demonstrated by our commitment to fair and consistent equality policy and practice.
