To be reviewed again 25 January 2018

The SPA Board has reviewed its previous decision to grant the Chief Constable a period of leave of absence and assessed whether any other measures are necessary. The Board has agreed that continuing the Chief Constable’s period of leave of absence remains an appropriate measure to address investigative and welfare issues for all parties involved. The SPA has written to the Chief Constable confirming the outcome of the review.

Background:

  • The SPA Board first considered and approved a request from the Chief Constable for a temporary leave of absence on Friday 8 September 2017.
  • The SPA Board is keeping its decision to approve the Chief Constable’s request for a leave of absence under review, on a four weekly basis.
  • The SPA Board will conduct a further review of its decision by Thursday 25 January 2018.
