SPA Publish Annual Review of Policing

SPA and Police Scotland performance in 2015/16

On Thursday 30 June 2016 the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) published its Annual Review of Policing 2015/16  which summarises the SPA’s assessment of the third full year of the new policing arrangements which came into operation on 1 April 2013.

The purpose of the review is to give the Scottish Government and other stakeholders a clear position of progress against the Strategic Priorities set in 2012 and a statement on the direction for the next year of operation.

The review assesses SPA’s performance in carrying out its functions as well as an assessment of Police Scotland’s performance and how both organisations are working towards achieving the objectives of the Strategic Police Plan.

The publication of the review meets the SPA’s statutory obligation as set out in The Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012 which states that the SPA must prepare an annual report as soon as practicable after the end of each reporting year.  Please note however that the SPA’s formal Annual Report and Accounts for 2015/16 is a separate, but complementary document and this will be published later in 2016.
