Following Vic Emery's announcement that he will step down as Chair of the SPA at the end of his current 3-year tenure, the public appointment process has been launched to find his successor.
The SPA has governance responsibility for the Police. Its main functions are to: maintain the Police Service of Scotland, promote the policing principles, promote and support continuous improvement in the policing of Scotland, to keep the policing of Scotland under review and hold the Chief Constable to account for the policing of Scotland.
The Chair’s roles and responsibilities will include leading the SPA to ensure that Police Scotland delivers the strategic priorities.
