The Local Policing summit announced by Scottish Government on 4 June is welcome news. It offers a real opportunity for all parties to focus on what has been achieved to date and explore how to build on best practice in scrutiny, accountability and local engagement.
The Partners in Scrutiny Forum, which was established by the SPA in 2013, has already enabled us to consider and respond to the opportunities, change and challenge of the reform process with local authorities, COSLA, HMICS, SFRS and Scottish Government colleagues.
Going forward, we will link outcomes from the Local Policing Summit to our Partners in Scrutiny work to support our shared commitment to delivering the benefits of reform.
